The verification of the level of accuracy and reliability of measuring instruments, used in order to provide evidence of the compliance of products with established requirements, is one of the most important aspects of our activities.

The measuring equipment and instruments kept under control generally include
gauges, micrometers, dial indicators, pressure gauges

The calibration of measuring instruments in use at BESA – understood as the operation of checking their efficiency and level of accuracy – is entrusted to a qualified supplier accredited by the Italian accreditation body ACCREDIA.

Each measuring instrument to be checked is identified by a code and recorded in a special list, compiled and updated by the supplier of the instrument verification service. A card is created for each instrument, containing its identification data and all the measurements performed during the instrument verification operation.

The list and the individual cards of the instruments in use at BESA are kept and managed by Internal Quality Control, in order to guarantee the verification and full traceability of the checks carried out.

Each measuring instrument is also marked with its own code and calibration expiry date, whose intervals are established by the Quality Manager in consideration of the frequency of use and the criticality of its application.

On the basis of the results of the checks carried out, the Quality Manager – with the support of the Technical Management – assesses the suitability for use of the instrument, in view of the measurements to be taken; in the event of unsuitability, it is decided whether to proceed with the request for repair, downgrading or segregation and eventual scrapping of the instrument.
